Public Swimming Pool Program

Mission

To ensure that public swimming pools are constructed and operated in a safe and sanitary manner.

2009 Accomplishments & Milestones

• Licensed 189 licensed indoor pools, (hotels, fitness centers, and therapeutic facilities), and 229 outdoor (seasonal) pools for 418 licensed swimming pools.
• Conducted 538 site visits, 972 analyses for bacteria, residual chlorine, pH and 382 tests for temperature.  Violation rates were 11.2% of bacterial samples, 18.1% of residual chlorine samples, 6.9% of pH samples and 0.78% of temperature samples were in violation of the regulations.
