Pandemic Influenza Program

Mission

To ensure that Rhode Islanders are prepared to protect themselves and their families in the event of an influenza (flu) pandemic.

Accomplishments

• Acquired 200 mechanical ventilators (a 30% increase of state capacity) for critical patient surge
• Increased state supply of antiviral medication and N95 respirators
• Co-facilitated the Special Needs Leadership Training Program: Pandemic Influenza

What We Do

The Pandemic Influenza Program prepares the State of Rhode Island for response to an influenza pandemic through outreach with health system partners, state and local agencies, and the general public.

Healthcare Service Regions

In response to an influenza pandemic, Healthcare Service Regions (HSRs) have been created by HEALTH and the state's ten acute-care hospitals to coordinate regional healthcare. (more)
