- Top causes for premature death among females were: cancer, unintentional injury, conditions of the perinatal period and heart disease.
- Top causes among males were: unintentional injuries, heart disease and cancer.
- Rhode Islands years of potential life lost age adjusted rate per 100,00 for all causes of death was 3591.5 which was 18% lower than the national rate (4396.0) but higher than Conneticut (3461.8) and Massachusetts (3277.6).
