Minority Health Promotion Center Program
Since Fiscal Year 1994, the OMH has awarded about 3 million dollars in grants to community-based agencies serving minority populations through the Minority Health Promotion Center Program. These grants are designed to assist community-based organizations to develop Minority Health Promotion Centers (MHPC) to: (1) provide health education and information, (2) conduct community outreach; (3) provide education; and (4) work with health care providers and community clinics.
Refugee Health Program
HEALTH initiated the Refugee Health Program in November of 2003. The goal of the program is to ensure that refugees and asylees enter into a comprehensive system of care that adequately responds to their unique health care needs. The program has three main components: coordination of care, education and training, and surveillance and epidemiology.
